Residential: Project G

This retro-fit installation project was carried out for clients who own a large residence situated in a rural location in the east of England. The brief included the installation of a CCTV system, gate access entry system and a fully equipped home theatre.

Home Theatre

The home theatre was created with some of the very best equipment available, with sources including a Kaleidescape Movie and Music Server, a Blu-ray player and Sky HD. The owner has the choice of either the 60” full definition Pioneer plasma screen or the Runco full definition VX-2000D projector on which to view these sources – the latter projecting onto a Da-Lite 110” screen which can be lowered in front of the plasma. The Runco is hidden within a down stand which runs around the ceiling edge. A Future Automation projector lift raises and lowers simultaneously with the projection screen triggered from the Crestron touchpanel.

The room, completely constructed by T&T features Acoustiblok sound abatement material built into the wall facades, down stand and a central feature. Multiple lighting circuits were installed to create a myriad of scenes for different entertainment and viewing experiences. A stepped floor was constructed to provide a clear viewing experience from each of the three rows of seats. The stepped floor internal space was also filled with sand to stop resonance as a D-Box motion simulation solution was to be added.

Audio is provided via a 5.1 surround sound processor from Crestron, amplification is by Rotel and speakers are provided by B&W. Eight Elite theatre chairs provide comfort for the viewer whilst the cuddle couch and love seat also provide a much greater degree of interactivity due to the D-Box motion actuators that are installed within. D-Box motion simulation provides 3 axes of movement in conjunction with the action on screen.

Total control of the theatre is available from the 8" wireless touch screen including the motorised black-out blinds which cover the seven large casement windows, to the lighting and audio/ video source selection. The theatre displays were all integrated with the whole house security system to display live and recorded CCTV pictures from any of the 19 cameras around the property.

An adjoining bar area is equipped with two wall mounted LCD TV's (the sources for which can be independently selected via the wireless touchpanel) and contains the equipment rack for the Theatre itself.

Security System

The security system surrounding the property consists of 19 cctv cameras installed throughout the grounds, both ptz and fixed which can be viewed and/or controlled from any of the touchpanels situated within the property. Cool Touch monitors within the main rack allow the cameras to be viewed (both live and via DVR) from within the rack room and controlled via the rack mounted equipment. Motion sensor controlled exterior security lights were also installed around the property. Gate access can also be controlled via any of the touchpanels, allowing the client to not only open and close the gate remotely but also view and have a two way conversation with the visitor prior to access being granted.
